American soprano Marina Renée Nuñez is recognized for her expressive artistry and rich and warm vocal timbre. A versatile performer with an international career spanning opera, concert, film, and contemporary works, she has appeared throughout the United States and Europe, including engagements in the Czech Republic, Austria, and Italy. Recent highlights include joining St. Petersburg Opera as a Resident Artist, covering the roles of Mimi in La Bohème and Countess Charlotte in A Little Night Music. Additionally, she recently made her Prague debut at the historic Divadlo Vinohrady through a fellowship with Opernfest Prague, performing excerpts from Thaïs. Ms. Nuñez has performed the role of Elle in Poulenc’s La Voix Humaine, in multiple productions across New York City and Florida, including a film adaptation with Tirgan Records and Killer Queen Opera.
Her operatic repertoire includes Micaëla (Carmen), Mimì and Musetta (La Bohème), Donna Anna and Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Nedda (Pagliacci), Rusalka (Rusalka), Fiordiligi (Cosi Fan Tutte), and Countess (Le Nozze di Figaro). Beyond the traditional operatic stage, Ms. Nuñez made her cinematic debut with Killer Queen Opera in the title role of baroque opera, Poppea, and premiered the role of Older Sister in contemporary opera, Who Married Star Husbands, with Four Corners Ensemble at the Polish Consulate General in New York. She continues to perform as both a featured soloist and ensemble member with the Grammy-nominated Taylor Festival Choir in Charleston, South Carolina.
Equally at home on the concert stage, Ms. Nuñez has been featured as the Soprano soloist in Mozart’s Requiem with the Masterworks Chorus of the Palm Beaches, as well as various recitals throughout Europe and the United States. Additional performed concert works include Mozart’s Requiem, Brahm’s Requiem, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, Faure’s Requiem, and Considering Matthew Shepard by Craig Hella Johnson.
Ms. Nuñez holds a Master of Music degree from San Francisco Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Michigan. She is an alumna of the Castleton Festival Young Artist Program, the International Vocal Arts Institute, the Bel Canto Institute, and the Miami Summer Music Festival.
